Brief Meditations

Wednesdays at 12:15 pm

August, via Zoom

Please join a few minutes early so we can start together. The meditation is about 20 minutes long.

Join Kara Johansen, Karen Noble and Pam Osborne for a brief meditation practice on Wednesdays. We will turn to a new practice every two weeks.

  • 8/5 and 8/12 Guided meditation - Listening to the voice of a leader we will look to be led into a deeper state of mindfulness, stillness and peace. Watch and practice with the session video for 8/5

  • 8/19 and 8/26 Finger labyrinth - Labyrinths have been used for over 4000 years, traditionally as a form of walking meditation. We will replicate that experience using a finger labyrinth either printed before our meeting or before us on our computer screens. We'll explore a variety of prayerful and meditative ways to use this ancient practice. Download a finger labyrinth: Chartres Labyrinth or Classical Labyrinth

We hope that you will take a few moments to find some stillness, while learning practices to carry with you during these challenging days.

Book Group – A Report

This summer, Christian Education said “yes” to us continuing the congregation’s conversation on race and equity in a book group on "Talking to Strangers" by Malcolm Gladwell. By hosting we hoped to provide some structure for a conversation that holds great meaning for us and is almost inescapable in our lives today. We are grateful to this community for coming together. The experience helped us feel seen and supported. But there’s more. We were moved to an unexpected degree by how people showed up. You were intimately earnest, courageous, and humble.  For those who were not able to participate this time, we have seen here a commitment to eradicating the harmful impacts of racism and social injustice. We see members of our church body taking personal inventory, seeking new tools, and connecting with others in meaningful ways. We are heartened by you and proud to walk this walk of Christ with you.

Backyard Campout

Backyard Campout

Thanks to everyone who joined in on our Backyard Campout last month! Central families had fun making s’mores, putting up tents, and even had a “campfire” story via Zoom.

Photos: Miles Norton focuses on the story; Nina Moulongo hoists a lantern; Emily Osborne demonstrates the perfect s’more; Carolyn Buck’s dog, Blue, and his tent; Joel and Sam Waisanen mastermind their fort; Sidney Moulongo “tests” the marshmallows; summer food on the grill.
