R&D seemed to be the future of the company. Concerned about what the future might
hold, he returned to his mentor seeking guidance. None of us, despite our best
intentions knows what the future holds for any of us.
Noah got a little inside information. God was so angry at the wickedness of man by the
fifth page of the Old Testament that he was ready to throw the whole thing out and
start over. He advised Noah to build an Ark, along specific measurements, which would
take a cross section of all the worlds species safely through a torrential flood. So Noah
went out and built that Ark. He measured the Ark step by step, putting in multiple
decks and went out and gathered all of the appointed species. Noah only trusted Gods
guidance and did as he was told. He followed the plan step by step and we have an
additional 885 other pages in the Old Testament to show for it, let alone the promise of
Christ as chronicled in the New Testament.
The future is truly uncertain however the future can certainly be affected by having a
plan. Organizational Change is omnipresent; Dr Johnson writes, How you respond
depends upon your purpose. When you want to be happier and more successful it is
time to be in the present moment. When you want the present to be better than the
past it is time to learn from the past. When you want the future to be better than the
present it is time to plan for the future. When you live and work with purpose and
respond to what is important now, you are more able to lead, manage, support,
befriend and love.
If we can collectively use these strategies within our congregation perhaps we can
venture out of this period better off than when we entered, and count ourselves
fortunate for the experience.
Ive paraphrased a bit in terms of recounting this tale, but I havent saved you $14.95
and I d like to encourage that you go out and obtain a copy of the text. Id like to hear
from the members of the congregation how you can or we can collectively implement
some of the strategies of The Present into our personal and spiritual lives. Whether
those plans call for golfing on the perfect day, building an Ark or sharing your
experience in supporting the church and its programs, its important that you share the
present, now that youve received it and be comforted, knowing that the gift and
promise of Jesus Christ has been given to us all. Live for the Present. Learn from the
Past and Plan for the Future.
Amen
